DII-A Miss Basketball

 

 

 

 

Pugh is a 5’9”, senior, guard/forward for the Turkeys.  She is a five year starter who averages 29.2 points, six rebounds, three assists, and four steals per game.  She shoots 70% from the field, 26% from three-point range, and 67% from the free throw line.  She is a five-time All-District selection and was named District Player of the year this season and last season.  Kaylan has been a four-time Commercial Appeal “Best of the Preps” selection.  She has scored over 2,700 points in her career at St. Mary’s.  This is the third time she has been named a finalist for the Miss Basketball Award.

DII-A Mr. Basketball

 

 

Justin Wertner from  St. George’s Independent School was named Mr. Basketball selection and was named District Player of the year this season and last season.  Kaylan has been a four-time Commercial Appeal “Best of the Preps” selection.  She has scored over 2,700 points in her career at St. Mary’s.  This is the third time she has been named a finalist for the Miss Basketball Award.

Kaleigh Clemons from Baylor School was named Miss Basketball for 2015.  The other two finalists were Jordyn Cambridge from Ensworth High School and Sydney Harvey from Brentwood Academy. Clemons is a 5’7”, junior point guard for the Red Raiders.  She is a three year starter who averages 13.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, 7.1 assists, and 3.5 steals per game.  She shoots 40% from the field, 30% from three-point range, and 65% from the free throw line.  Kaleigh has been named the “Times Free Press” tournament MVP three times.  

DII-AA Mr. Basketball

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Micah Thomas from Briarcrest Christian School was named Mr. Basketball for 2015.  The other two finalists were Jordan Bone of Ensworth High School and Darius Garland from Brentwood Academy. Thomas is a 6’7”, junior, forward/guard for the Saints.  He is a two year starter who averages 14 points, four rebounds, 2.5 blocks, 1.5 assists, and one steal per game.  He shoots 49% from the field, 41% from three-point range, and 74% from the free throw line.  This season Micah has been named to the All-Region team and was an All-Tournament selection at the Mater Dei tournament and the Houston, TX Invitational.  He was also selected as MVP of the MLK Classic.  Last season he was a Commercial Appeal “Best of the Preps” selection and was MVP of the Memphis/Atlanta Classic.
