Registration Open for Vol State Classes in Cookeville

There’s a new location in Cookeville for Volunteer State Community College courses this fall. Vol State is teaching more than 30 classes at the Cookeville Higher Education Campus on Neal Street. Students can apply now.

“We’re offering the full spectrum of Education program classes, including Early Childhood Education courses,” said site director, Lori Richards. “We’ll also have what we call general education courses- classes that will apply to many different programs and degrees.”

The Cookeville Campus has a library with computer access, a student center, and a bookstore. It’s collaboration between Vol State, Nashville State Community College and Tennessee Tech.

“We want students to come in and talk to us,” Richards said. “We specialize in working hands-on with students to get them where they want to go.”

The Vol State Cookeville classes can be combined with classes at the Vol State campus in Livingston and online courses for a degree. The first step for students is to apply to Vol State. That can be done online at www.volstate.edu/apply. Students will then receive a welcome package that will help them start the registration process. Students can visit the Vol State office in Cookeville if they have any questions along the way.

“We’re excited to be offering so many classes in Cookeville this fall,” said Richards. “I think it shows our commitment to education in Putnam County and the upper Cumberland.”

For the complete fall class schedule students can visit www.volstate.edu/cookeville. The Cookeville Higher Education Campus is located at 1000 Neal Street. The Vol State office can be reached at 931-520-0551 extension 138.
