Monterey shares some interesting happenings going on in town.

Travel professionals from across the state visited the Monterey Depot Museum on Dec. 1 on their way through the Upper Cumberland. Ken Hall returned as a volunteer to give them a tour of the museum. Afterwards, they had a brunch provided the Monterey Depot Historical Society. Photo: Dale Welch

The contract for engendering of the trail extension At Monterey has been signed with Farmer-Morgan Engineers , LLC, of Pikeville. They will be beginning the design phase and have a public meeting in February. A lighted star has been installed on the Monterey downtown water tank just in time for Christmas. The star was built and donated by Matt Groover, have Millcreek machine. Groover had lots of help installing The star in the rain on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Helping him was Gary Leming, have Monterey Heating and Cooling, Monterey Fire Chief Kevin Peters, Assistant chief SHANE Hargis and Matt’s brother, Micah Groover. Photo: Dale Welch
