Free Health Careers Information Session offered at Vol State at Livingston

Volunteer State Community College at Livingston will host a Health Care Careers Information Session on Wednesday, March 29, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the campus at 113 Windle Community Road. The session is free and open to everyone.

Vol State Health Science program directors will be on hand to discuss various certificate and degree programs that are offered at Vol State, which include Physical Therapy Assistant, Respiratory Care Technology, Radiologic Technology, Sleep Diagnostics Technology, Ophthalmic Technology, Health Information Technology, Emergency Medical Services Education, Dental Assistant Education, Fire Science Technology and Veterinary Technology and Veterinary Assistant.

“Health care is an exciting and growing field,” said Dr. Girija Shinde, professor of Biology at Vol State at Livingston. “According to a news release issued on Dec. 8, 2015 by the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), health care related occupations are projected to be the fastest growing occupational groups from 2014 to 2024. Nearly 3.8 million jobs are expected to be added to the health care and social assistance area.”

“This is an opportunity for anyone who is interested in working in the health care industry to learn about Vol State’s programs directly from our program directors and see what it takes to get started,” said Dr. Girija Shinde.
