Teen Accidentally Shot In The Leg In Cookeville

PUTNAM COUNTY, TN –October 4, 2017, At approximately 1:40 AM this morning, a 16-year- old
was transported to Cookeville Regional Medical Center with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. Deputies with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call of a shooting at a residence on Southmeade Drive.

The shooting was reported to 911 as being accidental.

“We hope for a speedy recovery for last night’s accidental shooting victim. As Sheriff I value everyone’s life and can not express enough the need for proper firearm handling, safety, storage and training,” says Sheriff Eddie Farris.

Investigators with the PCSO Criminal Investigation Division are investigating, but no criminal charges have been filed at this time.
