Santa House opens this weekend at Dogwood Park

COOKEVILLE – Santa Claus is coming to town – starting this weekend.

The little red Santa House, just off the path leading to the nearly 40-foot-tall community Christmas tree at Dogwood Park, awaits the jolly guy and his elves for free photo opportunities as part of the City of Cookeville’s Christmas in the Park activities.

“Santa will be in Dogwood Park five different days prior to Christmas to visit with children and refine his gift list,” Cookeville Leisure Services Director Rick Woods said.

Those days are Dec. 9, 10, 16 and 17 from 1-4 p.m. and Dec. 18 from 4-7 p.m.

Parents who want to photograph their children with Santa need to bring their own camera.

In addition to the Santa House, Dogwood Park has numerous festive displays, including a new ornament-shaped arch near the park entry that is an ideal setting for holiday photos. Miniature Christmas trees, a sleigh and deer are near the Santa House, and a reindeer sits near the Christmas tree. Lamp posts are wrapped with garland and tied with red bows.

A 15-minute Christmas tree lightshow synchronized to holiday music begins at the top of the hour between 5 and 9 p.m. each night through Jan. 1.

Dogwood Park is located at 30 E. Broad St. For more information, call Cookeville Leisure Services at 931-520-4386 or visit www.cookeville-tn.gov/ls.
