Baxter Man Arrested With Seven Charges

Police say a man who resisted arrest went to jail with seven charges, including a felony and a misdemeanor, after a simple traffic stop.

Billy Dobbs was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped by Cookeville Police on Dec. 28. When asked about his identity, allegedly, Dobbs lied and it was soon found out by the arresting officers. According to the report, Dobbs resisted arrest but was detained before being taken to the Putnam County Jail.

Upon arrival, officers allegedly found schedule II drugs/drug paraphernalia on Dobbs’ person and that led to his felony charge of bringing outside contraband into a penal institution. Dobbs also had a capias charge of not appearing for a prior court date.

Along with the misdemeanor and the felony charges, Dobbs is facing five charges of Impersonation, Manufacturing/Distribution/ Selling of drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, evading arrest and Capias.
