Injuries Reported after Vehicle Crashes into an Apartment Building

On January 26, 2018 at 02:59 AM, officers responded to North Maple Avenue in reference to a motor vehicle accident with injuries. A 2016 Cadillac driven by 32-year- old John Hancock of Cookeville left the roadway while traveling southbound on North Maple Avenue. The vehicle crashed into the apartment building at 225 North Maple Avenue. The passengers in the vehicle
(27-year- old Kurt Hanifan of Cookeville and 25-year- old Kole Hanifan of Cookeville) and driver were all transported to the Cookeville Regional Medical Center where they are being treated for serious injuries.

Due to severe damage to the apartment building, all occupants were evacuated. The electricity and gas service were disconnected as a precaution. There were no reported injuries to the occupants of the apartment building.

This crash remains under investigation. If anyone witnessed the crash and has not yet spoken
