Community Drumming Circle: March 24

A free Community Drumming Circle and Global Sound Experience will be held Saturday, March 24, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at the Cane Creek Recreation Center. Tennessee Tech University’s Dr. Colin J. Hill, professor of percussion studies, and multi-instrumentalist Massood Taj of Franklin, Tenn., are partnering with Cookeville Leisure Services to offer this event.

Drumming Circle is an ancient form of group meditation that has been practiced around the globe and is believed to reduce stress, enhance relaxation and create a sense of community. It will start with a simple base beat, and participants will improvise different complimentary rhythms. Dancing is welcome. Participants should bring drums or shakers if available.
