Two Arrested For Drugs At Best Western

COOKEVILLE, T.N., — The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department and the Cookeville Police Department responded to a local motel and allegedly found two suspects with drugs.

A deputy with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Best Western with information that Billy White, 35, was at the motel on South Jefferson. White had an alleged active warrant out for his arrest.

After arriving on the scene, White was seen walking to a vehicle in the parking lot. White was then taken into custody. Search warrants were obtained on both the vehicle and the room at the motel.  Allegedly, a K-9 unit was brought to the scene and to search the car. After a search, the K-9 halted on the driver side of the vehicle that was allegedly being driven by Ken Bayless, 38. According to the report, inside the floorboard, was approximately a quarter ounce of methamphetamine.

After the warrant for the motel room was obtained, investigators reportedly found a leafy green substance that was believed to be marijuana, baggies, scales, large amounts of cash, 2 strips of subutex and a loaded .25 caliber semi-automatic pistol.

White was taken to the Putnam County Justice Center where he was allegedly found with seven ounces of meth.

Bayless was charged with Manufacture, Deliver, Sell or Possession of Methamphetamine. He was also determined, according to the warrant, to be out on bond from Van Buren County for similar charges. His total bond is set at $25,000

White was charged with Offense of Possessing A Firearm During Commission or Attempt to Commit Dangerous Felony, Introduction of Contraband Into Penal Facility and two charges of  Possession of Controlled Substance. His total bond is set at $40,000.
