Leisure Services offering three fall break camps
COOKEVILLE – Cookeville Leisure Services is offering three camps during fall break to help students fill the gap in a fun way.
Fall Break Camp
This camp will be held Oct. 1-12 (Monday through Friday), 6:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., for children in kindergarten through age 12. It offers a variety of activities, including games, fall-themed arts and crafts and walks in nearby Cane Creek Park.
“It’s a great opportunity to get outside and enjoy the cooler weather and nature’s colors,” Cara Sheets, Leisure Services recreation superintendent, said.
The cost is $80 per week for full-time campers or $20 per day part-time. To register, call 931-526-7393 or stop by the Cane Creek Recreation Center at 180 C C Camp Road. Space is limited.
The Cane Creek Gymnasium, also at 180 C C Camp Road, will host two camps: Basketball Camp Oct. 1-5 and Recreational Games Camp Oct. 8-12, both 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Basketball Camp
Basketball Camp, a partnership between 1Shot Athletics and Leisure Services, is for ages 5-15. Campers will engage in various drills and shooting techniques with Coach Jermaine McElvain. The cost is $75 if registered by Sept. 28 or $20 per day drop-in.
Recreational Games Camp
This camp is open to ages 6-12. Campers will play gym games such as dodgeball and Red Rover, as well as enjoy scavenger hunts and play time at Cane Creek Park. The cost is $80.
“Come and have a fun time while sharpening your basketball skills or playing a variety of recreational games,” Jim Crea, Leisure Services athletic superintendent, said. “It’s a good way to stay active over the break.”
