COOKEVILLE, T.N. — Officials say the child who was reported missing Thursday in Cookeville has been found dead. Katlyn Dunn, 12, was reported missing Thursday afternoon.
The child’s mother told police she threatened to kill herself before she ran into a wooded area near Cane Creek Road. Police immediately started a search for Dunn but say she was found unresponsive a short time later.
Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris released the following statement: I regret to announce the sad conclusion to yesterday’s missing person case. She was located by emergency personnel and found to be unresponsive. She passed away before we could locate her and we all grieve for this juvenile. Based on an early lead that she had threatened suicide, we and many other first responders made every effort to locate her quickly and get her medical attention. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the juvenile’s friends and family at this time.
