Police Seeking Assistance In Possible Pedestrian Hit And Run

Cookeville, TN – On Wednesday evening, September 14, at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of 10th Street and Washington Avenue where a motorist observed a man lying near the roadway.

Upon officers’ arrival, they discovered the man injured and lying in the grass on the south side of 10th Street just east of the intersection with Washington Avenue. The man was unresponsive and subsequently flown to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga where he was listed in very critical condition.

The Cookeville Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in learning what occurred in this area during the minutes before being notified of this incident. The pedestrian is described as a 26 year old white male approximately 5’6”, 150 lbs., medium length light brown hair. A vehicle that was possibly involved in this incident is described as a dark colored SUV and might have front end/passenger side damage.

Anyone who saw this pedestrian or the SUV along Washington Avenue from the area of 1 st Street to 10th Street between 9:30 p.m. and 10:10 p.m. is asked to call the Cookeville Police Department at (931) 526-2125.
