Police Say Man Charged For Driving Drunk And Possessing Loaded Handgun

COOKEVILLE, T.N., — Officials say a Cookeville man was found at the scene of a car accident both intoxicated and in possession of a loaded handgun.

Glenn Bryan, 62, was allegedly involved with a wreck that occurred on Jan. 28 in the area of E. 12th Street, close to the intersection of 12th Street and Washington Avenue. Cookeville Police were dispatched to the accident where officers came into contact with Bryan.

According to the report, officers say Bryan, who appeared to be unsteady and slurring his speech, admitted to consuming several alcoholic beverages prior to the accident.

Officers say they found an empty beer can in the rear floorboard of the Bryan’s vehicle. Bryan was given four field sobriety tests and failed all four of them, according to a report.  Investigators say Bryan admitted to being drunk. Police say Bryan was also found to be in possession of a loaded handgun.

Bryan was charged with Driving Under The Influence and Possession Of A Handgun While Under The Influence.
