Daniel 1 Academy Lions Boys High School basketball team hosted Highland Rim Academy Lions on Tuesday, February 20, at Cane Creek Rec Center in Cookeville. This game was a first round game in the MTAC (Middle Tennessee Athletic Conference) tournament. D1A defeated HRA by a score of 58-25. The scoring by quarters:

D1A is now 19-8 and advances to the second round of the MTAC tournament. D1A will travel to Fayetteville to play Riverside Christian Academy on Thursday night at 6 PM.

Daniel 1 Academy Lions Boys High School basketball team traveled to Fayetteville to play Riverside Christian Academy Knights. This was a second round game in the Middle Tennessee Athletic Conference (MTAC). D1A lost to RCA 67-87.

D1A was out gunned in the second quarter and trailed at halftime 22-40. The Lions got within 11 points in the third quarter but the Knights answered every D1A run. All the Lions could do was keep pace but never got closer than 11 in the second half.
Individual scoring: Carson Vaughn 27 (5 reb, 4 ast), Luke Welte 14 (7 reb), Garret Woodside 11. Blake Smith 7 (3 steals), Josiah Watson 6 (6 reb, 4 ast, 3 steals), Madden Smith 2.
One major milestone was achieved in tonight’s game. Garret Woodside has now scored 1,000 points for his career with Daniel 1 Academy. His 1,000 point came in the fourth quarter on a free throw. The Senior accomplished the 1,000 point mark in just three seasons of action. Garret was injured for his whole Junior year and wasn’t able to play a game that season.
D1A is now 19-9. The Lions have been eliminated from the MTAC tournament. D1A will participate in the NACA tournament in Dayton, TN February 28 – March 3. The tournament schedule will be released on Monday, February 26. This will be the Lions first trip to the NACA tournament which features teams from Tennessee and other states.
