Firefighters Injured While Battling House Fire On E. Sixth Street

 

COOKEVILLE, TN, — One firefighter was sent to a local hospital and several others were treated on the scene of a house fire in Cookeville.  The fire was reported on June 7th on East Sixth Street.

 

When responders arrived they were met with large flames coming out of the residence.

 

As responders battled the flames, many of the brave firefighters were overcome with heat exhaustion. One firefighter was sent to Cookeville Regional Medical Center for heat exhaustion, according to officials, but has since been released. Several other firefighters were treated for the same conditions on scene.

 

Cookeville Fire Chief Daryl Blair had this to say, “At this time, the residence looks to be a total loss in damages. We are still investigating on what has happened to cause the fire but at this time it looks to be accidental in nature.”

According to officials, no civilians were injured at the time.
