Man Wanted For Killing A Dickson County Sargent Has Been Taken Into Custody

DICKSON, T.N. – After a 48 hour search, Steven Wiggins, the man wanted for the murder of Sgt. Daniel Bakr, was found this morning and has been taken into custody.

According to several news reports, the TBI has confirmed that Wiggins was found this morning on Pumpkin Branch Road in Hickman County. This arrest comes after several days of searching for Wiggins after the body of Sgt. Baker was discovered on Wednesday.

Authorities say that Baker was responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Sam Vineyard Road on Wednesday morning. When his fellow officers never heard any more from him, a search was sent to look for the missing sargent. Baker was later discovered deceased in his cruiser after officers used the GPS on the vehicle to track his location to a wooded area.

Investigators say that Wiggins was allegedly identified on video running from the scene.

Dickson County Sheriff Jeff Bledsoe said in an interview with News Channel 4 out of Nashville, “We’re not going to rest. We’re not going to leave anything unturned until he’s brought in for justice and taken into custody so no one else is at risk or anyone else’s life is threatened or taken.”

According to reports, Wiggins was taken to the TriStar Natchez Emergency Room for Dehydration and other medical needs.

Wiggins’ girlfriend has also been taken into custody for the alleged charge of First Degree Murder.
