Traffic Violation Leads To Virginia Man Being Arrested On Drug Charges

COOKEVILLE, T.N., — Officials say the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department was able to apprehend a subject from Virginia when K9 Officer Banjo detected several substances in the vehicle.

According to the warrant, Nicholas Kilby, 26, was stopped on June 11th by a deputy of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department for not using a turn signal in heavy traffic. K9 Officer Banjo, who was also on the scene, alerted the deputy to suspicious substances in the vehicles. Officials say upon a search of the vehicle, 2.5 grams of Cocaine, 21 grams of Marijuana, a Marijuana pipe with residue, 3.5 Xanax pills and 1.5 pills of Ecstasy were found in the vehicle.

Kilby has been charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and two counts of Simple Possession/Casual Exchange. Kilby’s total bond is set at $11,000.
