Depot Summer Cinema concludes Friday with ‘The Wizard of Oz’

COOKEVILLE – Dorothy and Toto won’t be in Kansas this Friday night.

Instead, they’ll be at the Cookeville Depot for the conclusion of the museum’s Depot Summer Cinema series, presented by Cookeville Leisure Services.

“We’re looking forward to our final evening under the stars with the family classic ‘The Wizard of Oz,’” Beth Thompson, Cookeville museums manager, said. “We all have wonderful memories of growing up with this movie, and this is a great opportunity for parents to share the magic with their kids.”

The movie starts at 8 p.m. at 116 W. Broad St. Admission is free, and popcorn and drinks will be available for $1 each.

“Remember, it’s Sing-Along Night, so be ready to go somewhere over the rainbow,” Thompson said.

Attendees should bring a lawn chair or blanket.

“It’s so special to be on the WestSide with the Cream City sign shining over us while we share a nostalgic evening with a favorite family film,” Thompson added. “Add popcorn, a cold drink and maybe even an ice cream cone, and you’ve got a recipe for the perfect summer night.”
