Deputy Punched In Face During Fight At Putnam County Jail

COOKEVILLE, T.N. — Officials say a fight between two inmates at the Putnam County Jail ended with a deputy being punched in the face.

According to reports, on August 11th, Kenneth White, 38 was in the gym at the Putnam County Jail when another inmate entered the area. Allegedly, White initiated a physical altercation with the other inmate. The fight was captured on video cameras and showed White punching the other inmate multiple times.

Two Correctional Deputies intervened to try to stop the fight but according to a warrant; White didn’t initially follow commands. When commands were not heeded, a Deputy, allegedly, physically tried to stop the fight. Officials say White punched the intervening Deputy several times in the face leaving marks. The Deputy was not seriously injured.

White was charged with two counts of Assault and his total bond is $7,000.
