On October 15, 2018 at 8:46 AM, officers of the Cookeville Police Department responded to the boat ramp at City Lake at 2800 Bridgeway Drive in reference to someone’s personal items being found on a boat ramp by a citizen. After an extensive search, the body of a male was located by divers from the Putnam County Rescue Squad Dive Team. The name of the male is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin. Since the man was not from the Cookeville area and apparently homeless, this process may take longer than usual. Even though there appears to be no signs of foul play at this point in the investigation, an autopsy is being requested.
In addition to the Putnam County Rescue Squad, the Cookeville Police Department would like to recognize the cooperation of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department and Putnam County EMS at this multifaceted scene.
