Civic Saturday Event Moved

The Civic Saturday location has been moved to TTU Bell Hall on W. 7th Street due to weather. The event will still be held on Saturday, Nov. 3rd from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

BriteHeart and The Deane Foundation present Civic Saturday, a non-partisan community
gathering in celebration of shared civic purpose. Started by Citizen University in Seattle,
Civic Saturday is a civic analogue to church, a gathering of friends and strangers in a
common place to explore a deeper sense of community and shared civic identity. It’s not
about church religion or synagogue or mosque religion. It’s about American civic religion—
the values and practices of being an active and contributing member of civic life.

Right now in America, we stand a country divided — and this moment of anxiety and
divisiveness calls for a new approach to maintaining a healthy, active citizenry. In a country
held together not by race or religion, but by a common creed, how do we maintain any sense
of national cohesion? And how do we convert our ideals into action? These are the
questions that we confront and answer with Civic Saturday.

We’re so excited to host Civic Saturday Cookeville at Tennessee Tech in the Bell Hall
Rotunda Saturday, November 3, led by BriteHeart co-founder Kate Tucker, with music from
Kat Starr of Indus and poetry by Bill Alexander. Complimentary refreshments from Broast
and Great Harvest.
