One Arrested In Killing of 11 Year Old In Clay County

WHITLEYVILLE, TN — A tragic shooting leaves one child dead and two adults still in the hospital.

 

Around 6:30 in the morning on October 29th, a Clay County school bus driver was on their normal route on North Fork Road when the incident occured. According to reports,  an uninjured female child ran to the bus and was followed by a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. The bus driver took both females onto the bus and drove to the Mount Vernon fire Department where they then called 9-1-1.

 

Deputies were sent to the residence and found Harley Evans, 11, deceased within the home. Harley’s father, Justin Crowder Evans, was found seriously injured. The woman taken to the fire department was Justin Evans’ girlfriend. Both Evans and his girlfriend were life flighted to Vanderbilt Hospital.

 

According to T.B.I. officials, Jacob Stanley Snyder who was staying on the property and was doing work for the residence was taken into custody after trying to evade police. Snyder was charged with one count 1st Degree Murder and 2 counts of attempted 1st Degree Murder. He is charged being held in the Clay County Jail on a $2 million bond.
