BAXTER, T.N. — A residential home on Bloomington Road caught fire yesterday morning. The home is said to be a total lost.
According to reports, a home that was being remodeled caught fire around 3:45 a.m. Monday morning. A family of four was said to be in the home but were able to get out and were unharmed.
The Putnam County Fire Department was deployed to the scene and battled the blaze in the freezing temperatures of the morning. The fire wasn’t put out until 6 a.m.
Putnam County Assistant Fire Chief Wayne Globerger, as quoted from another news source, said, “The fire started somewhere in the area that was being remodeled. We’re still investigating that. We’ve ruled out any kind of foul play or anything like that. We’re positive it’s related to the remodeling. Due to the 17-degree temperatures and freezing water and all that kind of stuff, we called for assistance from Baxter Fire and Cookeville Fire. They each sent an engine and a chief officer to help.”
Allegedly, after the fire was put out, crews had to return around 9 a.m. due to the fire reigniting. The house was said to be a total loss.
