Police: Woman Arrested In Cookeville Told Officers She Was In Hollywood

COOKEVILLE, TN — A woman was detained by officers after trying to evade arrest, according to a warrant. The woman reportedly claims that she thought officers were actors.

On the morning of January 17th, a Cookeville Police officer was on routine patrol in the area of Spring Street when he noticed a woman jaywalking across the street.

According to the warrant, the officer approached the woman and asked her to stop but she reportedly began running away on foot. In order to stop the woman, the officer allegedly had to use a controlled take-down method.

Melinda Wise, 42, of Knoxville, TN, was identified as the subject. According to the report, Wise was unsteady on her feet, had constricted pupils, excited speech and erratic movements.  Wise was allegedly, disoriented and when asked she claimed she thought she was in Hollywood and that the officer was an actor.

Wise has been charged with Public Intoxication and Evading Arrest. Her total bond is set at $998.

Jason Henry, 39, of Monterey, TN, was charged with Burglary. Total bond is set at $20,000.

Kyle Jones, 29, of Cookeville, TN, was charged with Resisting Arrest and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Total bond is set at $500.

Layah Williams, 18, of Cookeville, TN, was charged with Theft of Property. Total bond is set at $1,500.

Austin Swallows, 21, of Crossville, TN, was charged with Theft of Property. Total bond is set at $1,500.

Dash Dickson, 20, of Lawrenceburg, TN, was charged with Violation of Bond Conditions x2, Evading Arrest and Resisting Arrest. Total bond is set at $13,000.
