Below is a press release issued by Jackson County Emergency Services:

Jackson County Tenn- Overnight flooding caused multiple issues for emergency crews and residents in Jackson County.

A fire truck was stranded at the scene of a fire due to flash flooding at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Flood waters continued to rise over the next few hours causing flooding to Gainesboro Elementary School, Charles Holland Memorial Library, and multiple residential dwellings. The rising waters continued to cause issues throughout the night.

“We did have to assist in evacuating one elderly resident around midnight,” said Jackson County EMA Director Keith Bean. “We have a few other resident’s who have been displaced that evacuated of their own power prior to the water reaching flood level. Currently we still have around a half dozen road closures from flooding. We are continuing to monitor our water and road ways to ensure the safety of our residents.”
