Jackson County EMA Reminds Residents To Stay Vigilant

Press Release from Jackson County EMA:

JACKSON COUNTY, TN — Jackson County EMA officials want to remind their residents that this flooding is a slightly different situation than the normal.

“Due to the fact majority of this flooding is coming from water released from the dam and not from sudden rain we have been able to get out in front of things a little bit,” Jackson County EMA Public Information Officer Derek Woolbright said. “Our main concern this morning is everyone thinking that since the rain has ended the flood chances are over. Noon to midnight Sunday is most likely going to be our most imperative and dangerous time.”

It cannot be stressed enough for the public, particularly anyone who lives near a body of a water, to remain aware of the water level situation in their area.

If anyone in Jackson County needs to make shelter arrangements, report flooding or roadway issues, or gain further information they may do so by calling (931)268-6133.
