COOKEVILLE, TN — Cookeville Police Officers responded to a crash early this morning in the area near the Putnam County Fairgrounds. Two people were involved in the accident but only one was injured.
Around 3:40 a.m., officers received a call of an accident on East Veterans Drive. When they arrived on scene, a black 2010 Chevrolet Camaro was turned over on the side of the road. According to reports, the vehicle left the road and struck a metal utility pole before it turned over.
Two people, Latasha Cullum, 24, of Sparta, and James Nixon, 29, of Cookeville, were found near the crash site. Nixon was uninjured in the accident but Cullum was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Hospital due to head injuries. No word on her condition has been released at this time.
An investigation is still underway regarding this accident. Cookeville Police are asking anyone who witnessed the accident or who has any information to call Traffic Enforcement Division
