Man Arrested after Vehicle Pursuit

Cookeville, TN – On March 5, 2019 at approximately 10:22 PM, Officer Blair Arrington initiated a traffic stop on a 2007 Red Toyota Matrix at the intersection of West End Street and West Broad Street for failing to stop at a stop sign. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and began to flee. Shortly after fleeing, the driver struck a vehicle driven by an unknown occupant. After the crash, the driver of the fleeing vehicle (Jquon Jones of Nashville) attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by pursuing officers. A stolen handgun was located in the vehicle following his arrest. Mr. Jones was charged with DUI, Evading Arrest, Simple Possession, Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Handgun While under the Influence of Alcohol, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Reckless Endangerment, and Theft of Property (Possession). He is being held at the Putnam County Jail on a $16,000 bond. Mr. Jones currently has active arrest warrants in Davidson County. A passenger (Carey Watson) was released after determining she was not involved in the pursuit.
