Sheriff’s Office Receives Prestigious Military Support Awards

PUTNAM COUNTY, TN (March 5, 2019): Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris, Lieutenant David Dillon and Sergeant Linda Jordan were honored with Patriot Awards from the Tennessee Employer Committee for Support of the Guard (ESGR) for outstanding support of the National Guard and Reserve. The Patriot Award is given to supervisors and bosses for supporting National Guard and Reserve employees. Each Patriot Award recipient receives a Patriot Award certificate and accompanying lapel pin.

Sheriff Farris additionally received, on behalf of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, a certificate in recognition of the office being nominated for the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award. During the awards presentation, Sheriff Farris signed an ESGR statement of support on behalf of the sheriff’s office.

“We always want to do what we can to support our country and the brave men and women who protect it by serving in the National Guard and Reserve or other branches of the military,” said Sheriff Farris. “It is a distinguished achievement to receive this nomination and these awards that recognize our efforts to aid in our nation’s freedom, but the real honor goes to the men and women (and their families) who serve the United States at home and abroad. It is the least that we can do to assist them in furthering their career goals. I cannot begin to express how proud I am of Captain Krisle, Lieutenant Dillon and Sergeant Jordan for the sacrifices that they have made to keep Putnam County safe.”

Captain Margaret Krisle, who is a deputy with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and a member of the National Guard, nominated her supervisors and the sheriff’s office for these awards.

“I’m thankful for the great leadership within the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. Being in the National Guard proves difficult sometimes with balancing work and drill schedules. However, the Sheriff and his leadership staff, specifically Lt David Dillon and Sgt Linda Jordan, made sure I didn’t have to worry about work while at military training. The ESGR Patriot award is just a small token of my appreciation for all they have done for me in the past two years while being employed at the sheriff’s office. I can’t wait to get back to work and continue to serve the citizens of Putnam County.”

The National Guard and Reserve are critical elements in the national defense of our nation. They comprise nearly 40 percent of our nation’s military capability. By providing flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families and granting leaves of absence when needed, employers are not only investing in employees of the National Guard but national
