Remembering and Honoring!
Hundreds of people converged on the Putnam County courthouse in Cookeville to pay respect for those who lost their lives serving our country so we can have our freedom.
Mark Harris welcomed those in attendance and led the Pledge of Allegiance, Jennifer Wilkerson sang the National Anthem , Lehman Riggs, Putnam County’s oldest living veteran, gave the invocation. Diane Moore had the crowd singing along with her rendition of God Bless America. John Rose, our congressman for the 6th district, was the special speaker with Dr. Jason Williams giving the benediction.
During the program, members from the Veteran Service Organizations layed wreaths in front of the Veterans Wall and the Veterans Honor Guard presented a 21 gun firing salute and played taps.
