Crash On I-40 Leaves One Dead

PUTNAM COUNTY, TN — A crash involving multiple vehicles causes the death of a Putnam County man who was driving with a child in his vehicle.

 

Around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night, as Michael Silvey, 37, was driving west in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40, at mile marker 292, another vehicle swerve to avoid hitting his truck. The other driver, Caleb Green, of Crossville, did manage to avoid Slivey but hit a semi tractor trailer. Silvey was then hit by another semi tractor trailer head on.

 

Two other vehicles hit Silvey’s truck before Silvey’s truck came to rest in the middle of the roadway. 

 

Silvey was later pronounced dead and the 8-year-old unidentified child was still alive but condition has yet to be released.

 

A report by the Tennessee Highway Patrol stated that Silvey and the child both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. The report also stated that alcohol may have been involved.
