Putnam County 4-H’ers Named Region Champions

Putnam County 4-H members competed in the first ever consumer decision making judging contest specifically for junior high members. The team consisting of Cadence Howell, Britta Gaetjens, Evelyn Jones, and Bonza Auberson were named Region Champions at the inaugural event.

Consumer Decision Making gives 4-H members the opportunity to learn more about the wise selection of products such as healthy snacks, active wear, bicycles, and formal wear, through the use of information about price, quality, and product use. Judging teams also teach decision making skills and communication skills that will be beneficial throughout a person’s life. The team also had to answer questions based on the products and work together in the group think challenge. In addition to being 1st place team overall, the team was also 1st place in the group think portion of the contest. Evelyn Jones was the 1st high individual and Cadence Howell received 5th place honors.
