Rainbow Trout Added to Lake at Cane Creek Park

The city of Cookeville along with the Tennessee Wildlife Conservation Department and Dale Hollow Fish Hatchery provide a shipment of rainbow trout to be delivered to the lake during the months of December and January to restock the supply. Trout fishing is done during the colder climates before the waters become to warm for them to survive.

They deposit between 2,000 and 5,000 fish during the two deliveries, depending on the quantity supplied by Dale Hollow Hatchery.

The trout are added to the lake at no charge to the public. The only stipulation is that you must have a trout license in addition to your regular fishing license. The fish are of proper size and weight for catching and each fisherman is allotted seven (7) fish per day. The park manager and the Wildlife representatives encourages people to come out and enjoy the lake, take your catch  home and savor their flavor.

The next drop-off will be in Monterey at the city lake, Wednesday, December 18, around 8:30 a.m.
