WestSide scavenging fun returns Jan. 11, Feb. 8 and March 14

COOKEVILLE – It’s an opportunity to explore Cookeville’s historic WestSide District – and maybe win a prize.

Cookeville Leisure Services’ eighth annual WestSide Scavenger Hunts will take place Jan. 11, Feb. 8 and March 14 between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

“It’s free, and it’s fun,” Ashley McKee, Cookeville museums education specialist, said. “Participants will start at the Cookeville Depot Museum, where they’ll get refreshments and entry forms with riddles and small pictures.”

Scavengers will then hunt for the sponsoring businesses where each picture was taken and recreate the image with a cell phone or digital camera. Completed forms will be entered in a drawing for a prize basket filled with local goodies.

“We had around 12 businesses participate in last year’s hunts, and we keep growing,” McKee said. “There are some staples that have been there a while that participants can revisit, as well as some new neighbors who now call the WestSide home.”

WestSide Scavenger Hunts appeal to families, friends, students and groups of all ages for a fun and educational walk around the historic district.
