CHS Cavaliers Baseball Goes 3 – 1 on a 2-Day Tournament

Day 1: Thursday, March 12, 2020

Cavaliers travel to East Tennessee to play in the Play for a Cure Tournament.  CHS opened play versus Knox Webb and squeaks out a 2 – 1 win in 10 innings. Colby Phillips  6 innings.  1 run.  4 hits.  5 K’s and Connor Holmes  4 innings    0 runs  1 hit   were on the hill for Cavs.  Jace Spivey and Layne Dale pickup 2 hits each.

In game two the Cavs take one on the chin losing to Knox Halls 9 – 4. Jackson Kelly, Jace Spivey and Logan Sides each had 2 hits to lead the CHS Offense.

Day 2: Friday, March 13, 2020

After splitting a double header on Thursday, the Cavalier’s bats come alive in a big way as they take a double dip. Beating North Greene 4 – 2 and Sevier County 9 – 1.

In the Sevier County game,  JP Key was on the bump and firing bbs  going 7 innings, giving up only 3 hits with 7 k’s.  The big bats in the lineup were Jeyden Davis 3 – 4,  3 RBI’s; Jackson Kelly 2 – 4, 2 Runs, 2 RBI’s; Logan Sides 2 -4, 1 RBI.

In the night cap,  the Cavs bats produced 11 hits in the win with Jace Spivey 3 -3 , 2RBI’s; Jacob Stamps 2 – 3, 1 RBI.   On the mound, Josh Fallon 4 innings, 2 runs, 6 hits got the win,  with Mason Fike getting the save working 3 innings, 1 hit,  3 K’s.
