Storm Update from Mayor Randy Porter 3/9/20

‼Sunday March 8th Storm Update‼
Power Crews have restored power to every home possible. The only ones left are the homes that are damaged and cannot be restored until repairs are completed.

UPS helped us deliver boxes of food and supplies from our Distribution Center to the residents in the area. If you have a need for something, please contact us.

Multiple organizations have provided hot meals for everyone including volunteers. Thank you so much to all our churches, especially Double Springs Church of Christ for being our main meal center every day since the storm. What a blessing everyone has been.

Assessment of damage continues with over 500 structures damaged in some form, with over 200 totally destroyed or major damage.

We  have no one currently in our shelter, everyone has been moved to hotels. The Shelter is being closed today. Special thanks to First Baptist church for allowing the shelter there.

Curfew will remain in effect from 8pm to 8am for everyone except residents inside the damage area. Our main goal is to protect the area from looting.

Hwy 70 and streets inside the damaged area will continue to be blocked at least through Monday. We are hoping to get Hwy 70 opened up soon. Our main priority is to protect the damaged area and resident’s damaged homes.
