Leisure Services School of Dance registration open
COOKEVILLE – Dance season is a few steps away.
Registration for the Cookeville Leisure Services School of Dance is open for ages 3 and up in the classic disciplines of ballet, jazz and modern dance. Classes begin Aug. 3 at Cane Creek Recreation Center and conclude in May with recitals at Cookeville Performing Arts Center.
“We are cautiously optimistic about restarting classes after having to stop abruptly this past spring due to COVID-19,” Chad McDonald, Leisure Services cultural arts superintendent, said. “We know the risk cannot be eliminated, but much thought has gone into minimizing the chance of transmission while providing quality instruction. I think our protocols – which include increased cleaning and sanitizing, mask guidelines and temperature checks – will accomplish that.”
The School of Dance, now in its 22nd year, was created to provide quality dance education in the community.
“We are fortunate to have talented, educated instructors who focus on technique and inclusion,” McDonald said.
The annual School of Dance open house, originally scheduled for late July, has been cancelled.
“We hope to have one mid-year if possible,” McDonald said.
Tuition remains the same as last year, and payment plans are available.
