The Upper Cumberland Reporter Announces New Structure And Company Focus

The Upper Cumberland Reporter is proud to announce its new structure and company focus as the company turns towards the future.

The Upper Cumberland Reporter was started by the Little family, David, Hope, Lance and Caryn. In the over six years since, it has become one of the top digital media outlets in Tennessee. With mugshots, community news, sports coverage and broadcasts, UCR has grown an audience that includes tens of thousands of followers on social media and hundreds of thousands of unique viewers to UpperCumberlandReporter.com.

Noah McKay, formerly Broadcast Director, will be promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) and will manage portions of the business operations beginning August 10.

McKay is a graduate of Tennessee Tech University with a degree in journalism. He has been a sports journalist in the Upper Cumberland for four years. In 2019, he was named “Best Sports Writer” by the Southeast Journalist Conference.

“I am honored to be trusted with the responsibility of leading UCR into the future,” said McKay. “I love this company and the Upper Cumberland, and I am so excited about the potential we have.”

As UCR continues to grow and evolve, the company will have a new focus. The Upper Cumberland Reporter will strive to become the top sports media company in the state of Tennessee.

People rely on UCR for mugshots and community news, and that will continue, but UCR will continue and expand its top-tier sports coverage stretching from area high schools to college and professional teams.

UCR will begin the refocus of the company by providing daily written, audio and video content focusing on five area high schools (Cookeville High School, Livingston Academy, Monterey High School, Upperman High School and White County High School).

“The student athletes in our area have stories that deserve to be told,” said McKay. “We are going to shine a light on the student athletes in a variety of ways. We will give them the spotlight they deserve.”

Content will include live game broadcasts, full-length written stories, daily video and audio shows and more. More details will be announced in the coming weeks.

In addition to boosted coverage of high school sports, McKay will bring his weekly podcast and sports media outlet, Tennessee Talk, to the UCR platform.

McKay and Chase Hoke started Tennessee Talk in 2018 and have quickly grown it into a top outlet. Tennessee Talk focuses on coverage of the Tennessee Titans, Nashville Predators, Memphis Grizzlies, University of Tennessee Volunteers and now Tennessee Tech University.

Tennessee Talk’s weekly shows will be shared on UCR’s social media outlets, and a Tennessee Talk section will be added to UpperCumberlandReporter.com for written content.

These changes will go into effect August 10. More details will be released in the coming weeks. Any questions can be directed to the UCR Facebook page or uppercumberlandreporter@gmail.com.
