PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
Annual UC Senior and Caregiver Expo Rescheduled, Area Resource Guide Announced
UPPER CUMBERLAND – The 19th installment of the Annual Upper Cumberland Senior and Caregiver Expo has been rescheduled due to COVID-19. Although the in-person event has been postponed until Spring 2021, the Upper Cumberland Development District (UCDD) and the Upper Cumberland Area Agency on Aging and Disability (AAAD) still want to show appreciation for area seniors and caregivers by providing them with educational resources.
Organized by the Upper Cumberland AAAD, a division of UCDD, the Senior Expo brings together businesses, service providers, and seniors and caregivers. Though things are different this year, businesses, service providers, and the AAAD have all come together and created a great way to still reach out to our area seniors and caregivers in a safe way.
Participants will have the opportunity to gather resources from area vendors through a printed resource guide that will be provided along with a swag bag. The swag bags will be full of items that have been donated from various community partners. An estimated 1,000 guides and bags will be distributed via Senior Center congregate meal sites, home-delivered meal providers, in-home services providers, county coordinators, and other community partners this fall.
Swag bags and resource guides are expected to be distributed around the beginning of November, which is National Family Caregiver Month. In conjunction with the swag bags, the AAAD has decided to tentatively move the annual Senior and Caregiver Expo to May 2021 for Older Americans Month.
This year’s sponsors include: presenting sponsor, AmeriGroup; along with platinum sponsors: Putnam County Solid Waste Department, Tennessee Senior Medicare Patrol, Upper Cumberland Habitat for Humanity, Home Instead Senior Care, Vista Points Special Needs Trust, Grace Givers Home Care, Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency, Ascension Saint Thomas Health, Cookeville Regional Medical Center, Eye Centers of TN, and Volunteer Behavioral Health Care System.
