DEPUTIES SEIZE 3 POUNDS OF METHAMPHETAMINE ON TRAFFIC STOP

PUTNAM COUNTY, TN (September 4, 2020): At approximately 1:00 AM the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) K9 Deputy Bolt assisted the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force with the arrest of Jacob Douglas on September 4, 2020. Douglas remains in custody, on narcotics charges, in the Putnam County Jail with a $300,000 bond.

Jacob Douglas was in possession of 1.5 kilos of methamphetamine in the vehicle, located in the 1000 block of South Jefferson Avenue, that was searched by K9 Deputy Bolt. Douglas is known to bring large quantities of meth from out-of-state into the Putnam County area and was out on bond from an arrest for drug charges earlier this year.

Members of the HIDTA Task Force involved in this arrest include the Putnam County Sheriff’s Drug Unit, Tennessee Bureau of Investigations (TBI), the City of Cookeville’s Drug Unit, and the Overton County Drug Unit.

Sheriff Farris said, “The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and other agency allies will continue to be vigilant on illegal narcotics in Putnam County. 84% of all crimes in Putnam county are drug related. This has to be a high priority for our office to continue to fight the war on drugs.”
