Dogwood Park’s Fountain Unlikely to be Repaired Before Season Ends

Dogwood Park fountain repairs unlikely this fall.

COOKEVILLE – Dogwood Park’s interactive fountain is likely off for the season.

The fountain has been inoperable since Sept. 3 due to a pump house failure that resulted in damage to vital control parts.

“We apologize for any inconvenience,” Cookeville Leisure Services Director Rick Woods said. “We’re working diligently to get it fixed, and if we can get everything done this fall we will turn it back on, but we can’t make that promise.”

Woods said one of the pumps leaked muriatic acid into the pump house, causing corrosion to many other parts.

“There is no danger to the public,” he said. “But it does mean that many parts and pieces of the fountain pumps and controls will need to be replaced.

“We’re disappointed that the damage was as extensive as it appears to be, and I anticipate that it is unlikely that the fountain will be repaired this fall. It will take longer to get everything redone and reprogrammed to have it up and working properly.”
