The Monterey Wildcats earned their first postseason win since 2014 as they rolled to a 61-22 win over Sale Creek on Friday night in Monterey.
Sale Creek appeared poised to pull an upset early in the game, as they returned an MHS fumble for a touchdown to take a 6-0 lead.
The Wildcats responded with a 60-yard touchdown pass to take a 7-0 lead, and never looked back as they raced out to a 34-14 halftime lead, and a 61-22 final score.
The Wildcats will now turn their attention towards a second round matchup with number one ranked South Pittsburgh. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. Friday at South Pittsburgh.
