CPD Urges Anyone With Info on a Homicide That Occurred Sunday on Wildwood Drive to Notify CPD

Cookeville, TN – At approximately 6:53 PM on Sunday, December 20th, Cookeville Police officers were dispatched to 2140 Wildwood Drive in reference to a robbery and shooting complaint. As officers arrived at the scene of Wildwood Drive, they were simultaneously notified that a victim
had arrived at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center suffering from a gunshot wound.

Upon officers’ arrival at Wildwood Drive, they found 23-year-old Brent Taylor Flatt of Cookeville suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Even though officers performed life-saving measures on Mr. Flatt before he was transported to the Cookeville Regional Medical Center, he succumbed to
his injuries and was pronounced dead at the medical center.

The second shooting victim (Caleb Venable) was transported to the medical center by private vehicle was treated at the Cookeville Medical Center before being later transferred to the Vanderbilt Medical Center. He has since been treated and released from Vanderbilt.

Detectives with the Cookeville Police Department initiated an investigation into this incident which resulted in the arrest of four people. Issac Sides (age 20) of Cookeville, Kayla Cowen (age 22) of Cookeville, Caleb Venable (age 22) of Doyle, and Haleigh Watkins (age 20) of Cookeville have all
been charged with 1st Degree Murder. They have been transported to the Putnam County Jail and are being held without bond.
