Registration Open For Socially Distanced Cocoa With Claus

Registration open for socially distanced Cocoa with Claus

COOKEVILLE – Hot chocolate and Santa are coming together for a new socially distanced holiday event.

Cocoa with Claus, presented by Cookeville Leisure Services, will be held Dec. 12 from 9-11:30 a.m. at Cane Creek Recreation Center. Preregistration is required. Space is limited.

“Cocoa with Claus is a unique event because your family gets to register for a time slot to see Santa,” Sally Herren, Leisure Services recreation programmer, said. “This allows you to safely wait for your time to see Santa without having to stand in a line.”

Registration is $5 per family and may be completed by calling 931-526-7393.

During the visit, children will be able to take a socially distanced photo with Santa and share their Christmas wishes before leaving with a cup of hot cocoa. Participants need to bring their own cameras and snap their own photos. Masks are required.

“We also have a special mailbox for children to bring their letters to Santa,” Herren said.

The mailbox is available to everyone – not just those participating in Cocoa with Claus – through Dec. 23 at Cane Creek Recreation Center, 180 CC Camp Road.

“We will have one of our elves safely deliver the letters to the North Pole to the jolly man himself,” Herren said.

Immediately following Cocoa with Claus on Dec. 12, Santa will go live on the Cookeville Leisure Services Department’s Facebook page at 11:45 a.m. Everyone is encouraged to watch for a special message.
