Downtown Murals The Focus Of History Hike On May 8

From press release:

COOKEVILLE – Saturday’s History Hike is an opportunity to look for outdoor art in downtown Cookeville.

The free self-guided activity, presented by Cookeville Leisure Services, happens between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Participants will pick up entry forms at the Cookeville History Museum, 40 E. Broad St., and Cookeville Depot Museum, 116 W. Broad St., with clues on where to find the murals.

“With more and more beautiful street art popping, we just couldn’t help ourselves from creating this activity to get people moving outside,” Ashley McKee, Cookeville museums education specialist, said.

Participants are encouraged to take selfie photos with the murals to show they were there.

Those completing the History Hike may return their entry forms to either museum to be entered in a prize drawing.

Participants are also encouraged to see the Cookeville History Museum’s new exhibit, “Through the Lens of a Cookeville Soldier,” which opens the same day as the History Hike on May 8. Admission is free.

History Hikes continue on the second Saturday of each month through October. For more information, call the Cookeville History Museum at 520-5455 or Cookeville Depot Museum at 528-8570.
