Farris Elected as TSA President

PUTNAM COUNTY, TN – During its 2021 Fall Conference & 50th Anniversary, the Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association (TSA) formally elected Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris as the organization’s president.

Sheriff Farris stated, “It’s truly an honor to be elected by my peers and fellow sheriffs, the leaders of law enforcement across Tennessee. It is a privilege to serve in this capacity. This was only possible thanks to the hard work and dedication of the men and women at the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and the incredible support I and my office receive from the people of Putnam County.”

Farris’ election as TSA president marks a significant highlight during his over 30 years in law enforcement, which has involved leadership positions with the TBI and Tennessee Highway Patrol, but ultimately began at the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. As TSA President, Farris will provide leadership at the state level
and provide guidance and direction concerning upcoming legislative initiatives in Tennessee and agenda items from the Governor’s Office. The TSA President is elected by sheriffs from all of Tennessee’s 95 counties. The term for this position lasts for one year.

Even considering his recent election and additional leadership responsibilities, Sheriff Eddie Farris remains focused on growing the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office which recently received its second accreditation status from Tennessee Law Enforcement Accreditation (TLEA).

“We’re working to earn the public’s trust every day in Putnam County and we’re going to bring that ethic to the state level, too.” Said Farris.

Formed in 1971, the TSA is committed to promote better and more effective law enforcement; maintain a high level of ethical conduct on the part of all sheriffs and their deputies; provide a forum for the exchange of knowledge and experience among all sheriffs; establish the highest degree of cooperation among the law-enforcing agencies in the State of Tennessee; bring the sheriffs of the various counties into close association and to promote cooperation in the conduct of the laws of Tennessee pertaining to the apprehension and prosecution of persons violating the laws of Tennessee; improve and encourage greater
efficiency in the administration of sheriffs’ offices and to protect the welfare and interest of the members of the association.
