Cookeville And Upperman Golf Capture Region Titles

The Cookeville Cavaliers’ and Upperman Bees and Lady Bees golf teams each captured region tournament championships on Monday in the A/AA and AAA tournaments to advance to the state tournament.

The Cavs won the Region 4/AAA boys’ tournament with a 317. Luke Caldwell led CHS with a tournament-best 68. Joseph Agee shot 76. Jakob Smith shot 80. Caleb Scott shot 93. Ethan Poston shot 95.

Livingston shot 358, led by Hayden Ledbetter’s 81 and Bryson Fletcher’s 82.

The Lady Cavs earned a second place finish in the girls’ tournament with a 166. Daniella Pryor led CHS with a 79. The Livingston Academy lady Wildcats shot a 183, led by Cora Duke’s 87.

The Upperman Bees won the Region 4/AA boys’ tournament in dominant fashion with a 310. Andrew Ramsey led the way with a 75. Will Spillers and Sam Greenwood each shot 78, and Braiden Reich shot 310. The Lady Bees won the girls’ tournament with a 194. Sydney Rodgers led the way by shooting a 90.

The CHS boys’ team, Pryor and both UHS teams qualified for the TSSAA state tournament which will begin October 4 in Sevierville.
