The Upperman Lady Bees defeated Gordonsville in a non-district volleyball matchup 3-1 on Monday night.

The Lady Bees dominated the first set 25-16. Gordonsville won the second set by a close score of 27-25. With the score being tied, the Lady Bees won the third set 25-22. To close out the night, the Lady Bees won the fourth and final set 25-16.

“We had some difficulties in that second game and they are like a light switch,” said UHS head coach Barbie Cook. “It’s funny because they get a fire lit under them at the most random times and there’s just little things that will turn it on and little things that will shut them down.”

The Lady Bees had 19 kills, 13 blocks and 13 aces overall. Senior Allie Jennings had eight kills and six aces. Freshman Meiah Moss had six kills and three aces. Senior Emma Conradi had nine blocks and two kills.

They will travel to Sparta at 1:30 Tuesday to take on White County and then will host Sparta Thursday at 1:30 for the last game of the regular season before district tournaments start.

“Gordonsville is a small school but a good school,” said Cook. “The coach and I have talked, he’s got good players and he’s a good coach… and we also have White County this week who is a triple A school and we are up for that challenge, we’re looking forward to it and then we’ll head into districts.”
