Byrdstown-Pickett Co Update October 1, 2021

Happy Friday!!

We have another busy weekend ahead. The Rollercoaster Sale goes on through Saturday with several yard sales around the area. The Fall Dale Hollow Bass Classic kicks off bright and early in the morning at Star Point Resort. Twin Lakes Telephone Cooperative will be having their Annual Election of Officers in Gainesboro tomorrow for their customers to vote and enter for prizes – they always have some nice door prizes as well. Details can be found on their link. Everyone get out and have a safe fun time! Next Saturday is the 10th Annual Town of Byrdstown 5k/3k Run/Walk! You can register Saturday Oct. 9 beginning at 7:00AM if you haven’t already done so. Business of the Month of September is below, so read on!

First a reminder: It’s also time to start ad sales for the 2022 Dale Hollow Lake Explorer. If you would like to advertise this year, let us know. The Farmers Market should have several varieties of apples, tomatoes, and 4 kinds of peppers (and maybe okra) next Wednesday. This might be their last visit for this season.

COMING UP THIS WEEKEND:Live Music:Dixie Cafe – Friday and Saturday nights, Sulphur Creek Resort on Friday night, The Steel Coop Friday and Saturday, and Saturday night at the Backyard Grill. Cordell Hull Birthplace State Park continues to offer a variety of workshops. Space is limited so you need to register for the one(s) you are planning to attend.WCTE TV has a several events coming up in the near future. You can click here to learn more.

September Business of the Month

The Byrdstown – Pickett County Chamber of Commerce would like to congratulate Tommy Thompson and the Sportsman Lodge Motel for being selected as the business of the month for September 2021.

The Sportsman Lodge Motel was an original member of the chamber of commerce. Mr. Thompson has seen the business grow and it is currently up for sale. He hopes to retire soon and enjoy life and family.

The Rescue Squad meets the 1st Thursday of each month at the Rescue Squad Building at 7PM
